I'm a fan of the Mass Effect games series and I'm here to tell you, you do not need to play the previous games, Andromeda does it's own thing and sure, it's basically a continuation from Mass Effect 3 but it doesn't really follow the true events after Mass Effect 3 and so with that, go play Mass Effect: Andromeda, it's a good game and it's also a start for anyone who never played the previous trilogy Mass Effect games. Mass Effect: Andromeda promises a new breed of experiences for the franchise- a game that delivers on a new story, new characters, new locales, and all new mechanics. It's easily skippable at its high price, but if you are irrationally completionist then just succumb to your temptation and buy it. Citadel after you finish 3 maybe you get a breather from mass effect at that point but make sure to come back to this dlc since it's some of the best the series has to offer.
